Lithium-Ion Battery Care

Your Shadowspec Smart Battery requires some care to get the most out of it.

1. The first charge is important!

Please charge your battery when you receive it. If you use and discharge it before a charge you could damage the battery or affect the lifespan of the product.

2. Each Shadowspec Smart Battery has a limited number of charges.

Do not recharge the battery at every opportunity. Use it until it's at 10-20% of its charge.

The Shadowspec App will help you monitor the charge of your battery. Download it from the Play Store.

3. Frequent overcharging will damage the battery.

Once the battery is fully charged remove it from the charger, even if you don't intend to connect it to the umbrella. Constant power will render the battery ineffective.

4. Charge your battery at room temperature.

Charging a cold or warm battery will damage the cells. Aim for a room temperature of 18°C to 21°C. If it's winter, allow the battery to warm up indoors to an approximate temperature before charging.

High temperatures have the same effect and should be avoided. Don't store or charge batteries in areas that get hot / warm.

5. Don't charge your Smart Battery on the umbrella.

Always remove your Smart Battery from your umbrella before charging.

6. Always store your Smart Battery somewhere cool.

Storage space shouldn't be cold but should be unexposed and around room temperature.

7. Recharge every 12 months.

If you are storing the battery for more than 12 months at a time, be sure to give it a full charge to protect the battery from becoming inoperable.

When your Smart Battery reaches the end of its life, please dispose of it at a facility equipped to handle Lithium-Ion Batteries.
